                        SOLDIERS AID SOCIETY OF HILLSBOROUGH

            An appeal has been made to the women of the South to the Hospital Stores of our army, such articles of convenience and comfort as are not supplied by the Government, many of which are not to be bought at all for money, and can only be supplied by private contribution.

            The Ladies of Hillsborough have promptly responded to this appeal, by sending forward this morning a goodly supply of such things.  And in order to act with system and regularity in the good cause, a preliminary meeting of the ladies, at which forty were present, was held on Monday evening last, for the purpose of forming a permanent society.

            As might have been expected, patriotic enthusiasm ruled the meeting.  Nothing can better cheer the heart of the patriotic and nerve the arm of the soldier, than the noble spirit of devotion to our just and holy cause, which is universally exhibited by the women of the South.

            They will decree that the sick or wounded soldier, far away from friends or family, shall, as far as possible, not want for those things which would be supplied to him in a sick chamber at his own home.

            We take the liberty to suggest that the names of the officers of this society should be published, that persons who are so disposed, may send in their contributions to them.  A list also of the articles needed should be published.

            May God speed this good and glorious work!  Every woman can and ought to do her best in it.  Similar societies should be formed in every neighborhood.
